Midnight Sun Arctic Devil
This is probably the most acclaimed beer you’ve never heard of. This barleywine consists of Maris Otter, Caramunich, and Special B malts with Challenger, Cascade, and Fuggle hops. It’s then aged in American Oak.
Stats:
Barleywine. 13.4% ABV. 20 IBUs. Alaska. Limited Release.
On the dark side for a barleywine. Looks like a stout actually.
You get some sweetness, brown sugar, oak, bourbon, with a hint of chocolate and coffee.
Mouthfeel has a full body with a medium carbonation.
Vanilla, bourbon, oak, brown sugar. Very malty, tons of flavor, nice bitter finish and just a ridiculous amount of vanilla on the finish. The booze is fairly well hidden. You feel it when you breathe out.
It’s a good one and it’s a big one. 92 points.
