Widmer Columbia Common

CIMG7341

Here’s a new Spring seasonal from Widmer. I’m pretty excited about this one since you don’t see too many Steam Beers. This one features Pale, Munich 20, Caramel 40, and Chocolate malt with Alchemy, Columbia, and Willamette hops. They also use a hefeweizen and a lager yeast strain.

Stats:
California Common. 4.7% ABV. 32 IBUs. Oregon. Spring Seasonal.

Orange to light copper color. Head fades down pretty quick with a little bit of lacing.

I get quite a bit of a grainy aroma but with a pretty decent dose of hops. Hint of pine and orange.

Mouthfeel is alright. Light-medium body and high carbonation.

Nice floral hops up front with a bit of citrus. Hint of sweetness and grain on the mid which transitions to a hop forward finish. It ends on a floral and grain flavor.

It’s not gonna blow you away, but I’ve been enjoying this one. Nice balance and it’s an easy-drinker that isn’t hollow. 88 points.
