Shock Top End of the World Midnight Wheat

Have a longer name for a beer, why don’t ya? Will it just be Midnight Wheat starting January? Anyways, it’s an interesting concept. It’s brewed with Midnight Wheat (a dark roasted wheat malt), Chocolate malt, chilies, and “other spices”.

Dunkelweizen. 6.0% ABV. Missouri.

Big head when poured. Color is dark copper, light brown.

Hint of wheat, hint of spices. I do get a little bit of the chilies, but man is that nose closed.

Mouthfeel has a very light body with a high carbonation level.

Get some wheat and spices on the palate. Better than the nose, but still very light. Hint of chilies.

Everything about this screams “play it safe”. I’m not trying to be the guy that says every macro brew is garbage, but I just don’t see the point here. It’s brewed with all this great stuff, yet you end up with something that has less flavor than actual Shock Top. 76 points.
