Goose Island Matilda 2012

Now here’s a Goose Island that I don’t think I’ve had before. It’s a Belgian pale ale with 2-row and Caramel malts with Saaz and Styrian hops. I’ve said this before, but Goose Island has the best labels in the industry. So elegant.

Belgian Pale Ale. 7.0% ABV. Illinois.

Burnt orange to copper in color. Nice fluffy head, but it doesn’t stick.

Yeast-y nose with a hint of caramel malt. Slight floral hops.

Mouthfeel is very nice. Medium body with medium-low carbonation.

Floral, hint of honey and caramel. Little bit of bitterness on the finish.

I really can’t say much more about this beer. The flavor is just too light and too one dimensional. Perhaps it needs some time to age? 83 points.
