Elysian Valhalla Red IPA

This is the third release in the Manic IPA series from Elysian. The first two have been very solid beers, so I hope this follows suit. This “Red” IPA features Pale and Special B with Sorachi Ace and Citra hops

American India Pale Ale. 7.5% ABV. 70 IBUs. Washington. Available October-December

Dark orange color with a pretty nice, white head. Nice lacing on the glass.

Nice hoppy nose with a ton of citrus coming through. Think grapefruit and oranges here.

Mouthfeel is excellent. Medium body and medium carbonation.

Citrusy, but not quite as much as the nose with quite a bit more pine coming through. Hint of sweetness, but drys out on the finish. Not shy on the bitterness with a biscuit-y malt flavor on the finish.

Pretty tasty IPA. It’s definitely a WA style IPA and doesn’t stand out from the crowd, but there’s nothing bad about it. 89 points.
