Pyramid Wheaten IPA

This is a newer offering from Pyramid, which is trying to re-connect with their original fan base. I guess there’s some wheat in here, but the stats on the webpage just say malted barley, Cara-red, and Munich malt. Hops include Nugget, Delta, and Mt. Hood.

American India Pale Ale. 6.5% ABV. 66 IBUs. Washington.

Dark gold to orange in color. Not much head with big bubbles.

Hoppy with quite a bit of citrus. Lots of orange and tangerines come through with a little bit of apricot.

Mouthfeel is medium body with high carbonation.

Tangerines and apricots fill the palate with just a hint of black pepper and pine. Mid-palate is similar with a fairly bitter finish. Hint of vanilla, grain, and it’s a bit floral.

This doesn’t explode my mind, but I think it’s one of the better Pyramid beers that I’ve had. Definitely worth a purchase. 87 points.
