Real Ale Sisyphus Barleywine 2012

CIMG6781

Thanks Ben! I really liked the 2010 that he sent me, so I was super excited to get to try the 2012. Let’s see how it tastes.

Stats:
Barley Wine. 10.0% ABV. 77 IBUs. Texas.

Bright orange color. Fairly light color compared to most. Gorgeous head and lacing.

Toasted nuts with brown sugar. More citrusy than inky. Orange liquor comes through nicely. Quite a bit of sugar on the nose with a hint of black pepper.

Mouthfeel is lovely. Full bodied with medium carbonation.

A very “bright” barley wine with a lot of fresh citrus and some brown sugar. Again, quite sweet, but not out of the ordinary. A little big of toasted almonds to an almost oaky flavor. Brown sugar on the finish.

I love this take on a barley wine. It’s so much “fresher” than most are and I love the citrus play. 92 points.
