Diamond Knot Vienna Style Ale

So this is a Vienna style ale. I guess that means it’s essentially an Alt style? The brewery website looks like it’s going through some changes and doesn’t even list this beer at all.

Vienna Lager (Ale). 5.6% ABV. Washington.

Coppery color. It has a decent fluffy head if poured down the middle.

The first thing you will notice on the nose is a very sour cider vinegar aroma. That’s not good. There’s some buttery, diacetyl coming through as well. Pretty much smells like a disaster.

Mouthfeel is good with a medium body and medium-high carbonation.

The vinegar isn’t as pronounced on the palate, but it’s there. Surprisingly, there are some nice malt flavors with a floral hop component that’s really nice. Really nice grainy finish, as well.

I’d like to try this beer when it’s not infected, but it’s not good as it is. 74 points.
