Midnight Sun Berserker

This is an imperial stout that weighs in at almost 13%. Yep, it’s just about as big and bold of a beer as you could possibly brew. This version (they only brew this beer every other year) has molasses and Maple Syrup and aged on Bourbon oak. It was expensive.

Imperial Stout. 12.7% ABV. Alaska. Limited Release.

As black as black can be. Might as well be pouring motor oil. Dark tan head fills the glass.

Complexity? Yes. Dark Chocolate, licorice, soy sauce, vanilla, oak, bourbon. It’s everything that you expect from an imperial stout with two important characteristics. It has a balanced nose and the alcohol doesn’t come through.

Just take a guess on the mouthfeel.

Everything that was mentioned above is on the palate with the chocolate coming through tremendously. 13%? Tastes like 8. Oak nor the Bourbon take over the palate. It’s an example of perfect balance of heavy, heavy flavors. The roast and vanilla flavor coats the palate and won’t let go.

Perfect. 95 points.
