Kassik’s Morning Wood

“Never let a morning wood go to waste.” Silly Alaskans. This is supposed to be an English-style IPA, not American. I’ve actually had this beer once before when I was in Alaska. I wasn’t blown away by it then, but maybe I’ll feel differently this time.

English India Pale Ale. 6.4% ABV. Alaska.

Dark copper. Does have a decent head and nice lacing.

Lot of crystal malt coming through on the nose, more so than the hops. I also detect a hint of diacetyl.

Mouthfeel is solid. Nice medium body with medium carbonation.

Caramel, tootsie rolls, and that over-all crystal malt flavor. Over-powers any semblance of hop flavor on the palate, but leaving you with a medium bitterness.

Quite unimpressive. This is more of a showcase of malt than hops. It’s definitely not American style, but I find it fairly boring. 77 points.
