Old Schoolhouse Ruud Awakening IPA

A couple of friends got me this beer while they were at the brewpub. I have some cool friends. This beer features Pale, English Crystal, Carapils, and Munich malts with Warrior, Columbus, Simcoe, Citra, and Amarillo hops. That’s a lot of hops.

American India Pale Ale. 7.2% ABV. 80 IBUs. Washington.

Nice copper color with a decent head. Fairly typical looking IPA around here.

Nice hoppy nose, definitely smells Washington with a heavy pine and citrus component and you get just a hint of the malt underneath.

Mouthfeel is medium body with medium carbonation.

Heavy pine and earth with a little bit of citrus and the malt is just underneath that with a grain and honey component.

This is unmistakably Washington. It’s aggressive and I’m liking it. If you are a fan of Boundary Bay’s IPA or American’s Breakaway IPA then this is for you. 89 points.
