Kona Koko Brown

This Hawaiian Winter seasonal is a nut brown with toasted coconut. I’m a fan of Maui’s Coconut Porter, but this is much cheaper. Maybe this will be a nice alternative. The beer features 2-row, Victory, Carapils, Munich, and Chocolate malts with Cascade, Willamette, Warrior, and Millennium hops.

American Brown Ale. 5.5% ABV. 28 IBUs. Hawaii. Winter Seasonal.

Toasted brown color. The head faded very quickly with just a tiny bit of lacing on the glass.

The nose smells very sweet with a bit of that coconut and toasted almonds with a hint of brown sugar.

Mouthfeel is fairly light to medium body with high carbonation.

Coconut, almonds, and brown sugar meet in a very sweet medium. Not too much else going on here. It’s fairly light on flavor and has a coconut and toasted almond finish.

It’s the type of beer that I come to expect from Kona. Light on flavor and one-dimensional. 80 points.
