Southern Oregon Pin-up Porter

This is the first SOB beer that I’ve had. This porter features Rahr 2-row, Weyermann Carafa II, Briess Carapils, Briess roast, and Briess Caramel. Pretty cool they specify where they get them from. The hops include German Magnum, Northern Brewer, Stryian, Goldings, Perles, and Mt. Hood.

American Porter. 5.5% ABV. 30 IBUs. Oregon.

Dark brown color. No head. At all.

It’s got a nice nose, lots of coffee, chocolate, and vanilla. It really does smell delicious.

Mouthfeel is on the lighter side of medium and on the higher side with the carbonation.

The palate isn’t quite as good as the nose. It’s got the chocolate, vanilla, caramel, and some coffee. The roast is really nice, but I do think the flavors are a bit shallow, they just don’t pop. It feels a bit watered down, especially since there is no head.

Pretty solid porter, but doesn’t blow me away. If they can make it taste as good as the nose smells, then we will have a winner. 85 points
