Silver City Oktoberfest

My first Oktoberfest of the year! It’s a rainy day here in Seattle, so I thought today would be a good time to pull out something a little more Fall-ish. I’m not a huge fan of the style, as they tend to be on the sweeter side, but let’s give this a go.

Oktoberfest. 5.6% ABV. 21 IBUs. Washington. Fall Seasonal

Actually lighter in color than I’d expect. Keeps a really nice head.

Lovely nose. You get that toffee and nutty malty-ness but there is this amazing baked apple thing with some fall spices and a hint of vanilla and honey. Really nice.

Mouthfeel is bordering on high carbonation, but the body is medium. I might like to see it just a hair thicker, but it’s not too bad.

Honey hits the palate first with that toffee nut component. It transitions to a spice and vanilla/honey mid-palate and finishes with a hint of hop balance and an amazing grain and toffee finish.

Everything that I’m looking for in a Oktoberfest is featured here. This really makes me wanna drive up to Leavenworth right now. I love the balance, and the sweetness is there, but very well maintained. 90 points.
