Silver city Ridgetop Red

This is the first beer that I’ve had from this Washington brewer. This red ale features Liberty hops, but other than that, they don’t specify.

American Red Ale. 6.0% ABV. Washington.

No head on this beer. Actually if I put some ice in here, you couldn’t tell much of a difference between a coke. It’s just slightly lighter.

The nose is okay, not a lot going on here. You get some sweetness with vanilla and brown sugar. All malts.

Mouthfeel is pretty light and frothy. I’d like to see it much thicker.

Caramel malts that bring lots of sweetness, brown sugar, honey, vanilla, all those kind of flavors. It does leave a light, but nice grain flavor on the finish.

There isn’t much about this beer that stands out to me. 81 points.

Well thanks for the comment. BA refers to it as an American Amber/Red, and RB calls it an Amber. Everyone has their own palate. I didn’t find it particularly special. BTW here is the description from RB: “An American original, amber ales combine medium maltiness and caramel character with American variety hops. This amber rocks! Ridgetop Red is Silver City’s answer to anyone looking for a mild and malty, highly drinkable, yet fresh and full flavored beer. Northwest Liberty hops and three select German specialty malts along with a tempered fermentaion, results in a distinctly northwest ale with a smooth body and a the crisp finish of a German alt beer.”
