Odin Odin’s Gift

Havn’t had much from Odin in Seattle, but I was really excited to try this one. I love gin and I think that Juniper could be a nice addition to a beer if it’s done right. They lack information on this beer on the website.

American Red Ale. 5.4% ABV. Washington.

Brown and reddish but very clear. Head didn’t last all that long.

It’s got some typical brown ale aromas, but that’s about it. And it’s not even very strong. A little brown sugar, vanilla, honey, and a slight bready component.

Mouthfeel is alright. It’s a bit too light.

Brown sugar, perfume, and yes some gin like flavor. And then it’s all bitterness all the time. Totally destroys the palate and it tastes like cardboard.

This is just….bad. Off balanced, lacks complexity, and flavors that are enjoyable. Now, I do like gin, so it’s not that I have anything against the juniper. In fact, you can’t taste much of it. 75 points.
