Howe Sound Rail Ale Nut Brown

CIMG3183

And one more Howe Sound beer to review. This is a nut brown named for the long railroad history in BC. Brown ales aren’t generally a favorite style of mine, as I usually find them all pretty similar and kinda boring. Let’s see how this one is.

Stats:
American Brown Ale. 4.7% ABV. 19 IBUs. British Columbia, Canada.

Dark chocolate brown, and not much head.

The nose is slightly sweet with a nice toasted nut aroma which is actually really nice.

Mouthfeel is a bit too light and carbonated for me, but it is really low in ABV.

Palate is similar to the nose. It’s a little light at first, but the chocolate comes in followed by the toasted nut flavor. The finish is a bit sweet with toasted almond and a wet rock/mineral thing.

Like I said, not a favorite style of mine, but I actually really liked this one. It’s very light and sessionable and brings a little bit of sweetness. 87 points.
