Howe Sound Devil’s Elbow IPA

I’ve got a couple more Howe Sound reviews here. I’ve tried just about every thing I could find from them and I’ve kept all the awesome bottles. This is an English style IPA that features English and North American barley and hops. Yes, very descriptive Howe Sound.

English India Pale Ale. 5.7% ABV. 68 IBUs. British Columbia, Canada.

Fairly yellow and clear with a nice head and lacing on the glass.

Nice hoppy nose, not very aggressive or piney. It’s mainly just some citrus and biscuit.

Mouthfeel is good, not too light, but good carbonation makes it an easy drinker.

More hop aggression on the palate, but the hops are still bringing mostly citrus flavors. The balance of malt is nice and brings a mostly cracker/bready component. There is actually quite a bit of bitterness on the back, but not too much, with a burnt toast finish.

Not a bad effort from the guys up North. This is a good buy, and works as a nice session IPA. 87 points.
