Allagash Tripel

I was glad to find this at my local grocer. Allagash has pulled out of Washington, so this will probably be the last time I’ll have this beer for quite some time. If you do run across any Allagash, just buy it.

Tripel. 9.0% ABV. Maine.

Golden yellow color with a bit of hazy-ness. A lot of carbonated head initially then fades.

Huge nose with honey and light fruit coming in. it’s like a bowl of fruit with honey drizzled all over it. It’s also get a bit of yeast.

Mouthfeel is excellent, medium bodied.

Honey and fruit again on the palate, which stays there all the way to the back end where it gets a little yeasty and metallic. Bitterness is actually fairly high on the finish, with a tobacco, vanilla, honey, and a floral component.

Damn tasty, though I feel like this beer has probably been on the self for awhile. But a beer that I would strongly recommend if you can get it. If you are in Washington like me, you probably won’t be able to find it for quite a long time unfortunately. 91 points.
