Beer Valley Pigskin

This is a beer that I’ve passed up many times before. Terrible brewery name and not very good looking packaging, and not knowing anything about this brewery, I just never picked up the beer. It has the look of a craft beer knock off brewed for a grocery chain. That being said, it’s unfair to judge the beer based on that, so I finally got around to purchasing this. Oh, their website sucks too, so I can’t tell you what’s in this beer.

American Pale Ale. 6.0% ABV. 45 IBUs. Oregon.

Fairly pale yellow in color, with great head and lacing, it’s also full of sediment.

Heavy hops on the nose bringing some pine and floral, honey components. The nose is quite floral actually, and I’m really liking it. It also has a tangerine, banana thing.

Mouthfeel is right about where it needs to be.

Nice honey and floral up front that moves to a little more hop pine towards the end of the palate. Some hop bitterness on the back, but it’s well-contained. There is a bit of vegetal component here, bringing an English Pea flavor, but there’s enough fruit that it balances out.

I’ve always passed up this brewery, but I’m liking this pale. I’ll have to check out their other beers. 87 points.
