Chuckanut American Pale Ale

I had to try this when it was on tap (which it’s currently not) as Chuckanut doesn’t do American style beers. After I tasted it, I knew I had to bring home a growler of it. The beer isn’t listed on BA or the brewery’s website.

American Pale Ale. 5.5% ABV. Washington.

Golden yellow color, not a lot of head, but leaves some nice lacing.

A little bit of hops on the nose, but not a lot of pine, just fairly citrusy. A lot of lighter fruits and some bready malts.

Medium bodied and good carbonation, very nice mouthfeel.

Lots of orange, apple, pear, apricot, and more lighter fruits. I’m actually getting a slight tartness. Apples start to come through heavy as it transitions to the back palate. The finish is slightly bitter hops, and some apples and oranges, with a little maltyness.

Very light on the hops to be called an APA, but lovely flavors that fill the palate with a fantastic drinkability. That growler went fast. 89 points.
