Port Wipeout IPA

This is the first beer that I’ve had from Port Brewing, but they do have a pretty good reputation. This IPA features 2-row, wheat, Carapils, and English Crystal malts with Amarillo, Centennial, and Simcoe hops. They even specify that they use White Lab’s California Ale yeast.

India Pale Ale. 7.0% ABV. California.

Fairly yellow color with a very nice head.

Very hoppy on the nose, lots of grapefruit, citrus, pine. Fairly typical nose.

Decent mouthfeel, medium bodied.

Lots of hops on the palate, tastes more like an imperial. Lots of pine with some citrus, more pine on the mid-palate and quite a bit of earthyness and bitterness on the back.

It’s an alright beer. It’s very hoppy with considerable bitterness, but pretty typical flavor profile. 82 points.
