Great Divide Hercules

Great Divide seems to have very little information about this beer. I can’t find what hops, malts, or even the IBUs on this beer. I believe this is only the first Great Divide beer I’ve had, so let’s see how it is.

Double India Pale Ale. 10.0% ABV. Colorado.

Fairly caramelized color with a decent white head and fantastic lacing.

The nose is very hoppy, lots of pine coming through, with a little tobacco and earth, and little bit of orange brightens it a little.

Nice thick mouth feel, but good carbonation.

Oh man, that’s hoppy. Lots of pine resin, orange, earth, tobacco, and vanilla. The back end has some nice apples, and a very large dose of bitterness. This has to have a ton of IBUs. There is a little bit of oak flavor I get on the back as well.

If you don’t like hops, forget it. This has a ton of bitterness that sticks in your mouth forever. I’d personally like to see it calmed down a little, but some of you geeks will dig this one, and I must say it’s a pretty well made beer. 88 points.

You’re in a treat when you get to the Yeti my friend.
