Bridgeport Ebenezer 2010

Here’s another winter warmer that I reviewed last year. I liked it quite a bit last year, even when it had several months of aging on it. This beer features “four different roasted malts and a blend of local and imported hops.” It’s also bottle-conditioned.

Winter Warmer. 6.4% ABV. Oregon.

Typical winter warmer color, dark brown with a lasting head.

Nose is actually a bit closed, but you do get some of that malty-ness and caramel, but I’m not getting much more than that.

Carbonation is a bit too high here, and the body is a bit light.

Some malty-ness comes through with dark fruits and caramel, hint of vanilla. Nice vanilla backend with a bit of bitterness and slight dark cherry component.

I seemed to like last years with some age a lot better than this. Maybe it’s a tweaked batch or it’s just not as good fresh. 84 points.
