Deschutes Jubelale 2010

This is the famed Deschutes Fall/Winter seasonal, Jubelale. I have loved this beer in the past, although last year it seemed a bit off. Their website doesn’t say much about what’s in this beer other than dark Crystal malts and “bountiful” hops. Let’s see how this year’s version is!

Winter Warmer. 6.7% ABV. 60 IBUs. Oregon.

Dark brown with a reddish hue. Great head on this beer.

The nose is quite malty with a bit of sweetness. Lots and lots of dark fruits. There are some great spice notes on here as well. Cinnamon and Cardamon come through strong.

Medium bodied with a good amount of carbonation. Good mouthfeel.

The palate is pretty similar to the nose, but much more full. The fruit just explodes on the palate with all kinds of plumbs, dark cherries, some brown sugar and a slight roasted quality. This year, the hops are spot on.

This version of Jubelale is perfect. So much better than last year’s. 92 points.

I just wanted to let you know that because of YOU (and Maggie & Norm of course) I decided to buy a sixer of this for December’s edition of Beer Club.
