Allagash Dubbel

This Belgian Dubbel is the first beer I’ve had from Allagash. The website didn’t have any information about what’s in here, but I’m sure there is some candi sugar.

Belgian Dubbel. 7.0% ABV. Maine.

Dark caramelized color with a tan, lasting head.

Very caramelized, sweet nose. Lots of caramel, and brown sugar. There is this almost smoked aroma, that I really like, with a toasted-ness, like toasted almonds.

Light to medium bodied.

I get toasted almonds right away with brown sugar and caramel. Some lemon pulls through, but it’s really more toasted than anything else. The flavor drops off a bit at the end.

Not super impressed with this one, but not terrible. Seems a little light, and a bit sweet for my palate. 85 points.
