Kona Pipeline Porter

This limited release from Kona is a porter brewed with Kona coffee, and features Pale, Carapils, Victory, Caramel, Extra Special, Chocolate malts and roasted barley with Warrior, Millenium, and Willamette hops.

Porter. 5.4% ABV. 23 IBUs. Hawaii. Available from September-March.

Dark brown to black in color, doesn’t leave much head.

Very little coming through on the nose. I just get a little bit of coffee, but even that’s a struggle.

Mouthfeel is too light and carbonated.

Wow, this palate is extremely light. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a beer this bad. Not much flavor at all up front, and has a totally hollow mid-palate, the finish has some coffee and vanilla with just a slight bitterness.

This is unacceptable in every way. I don’t know what they are thinking over there, but this is like dark sparkling water with a tiny bit of coffee thrown in. Ridiculously light flavor, hollow mid-palate, no length, light mouthfeel. Just a terrible beer. 72 points.
