Midnight Sun Arctic Rhino Coffee Porter

Here is the 3rd beer that I got from Midnight Sun. This one is a coffee porter. I’m sometimes wary of coffee beers because they can tend to be overwhelming or one-trick ponies. But when a coffee beer is good, I’ll love it!

Porter. 5.0% ABV. 20 IBUs. Alaska.

Black with chocolate brown hues. Dark tan head that fades.

A lot of coffee on the nose. Reminds me of Goosebump. There is also a considerable rich chocolate aroma. I’m surprised how strong it is.

Surprisingly light mouthfeel, too light.

Some stale coffee flavor upfront and a hint of chocolate. Wow, flavor completely dies in the mid midpalate, havn’t had that in awhile. Ends with a slight tobacco and coffee flavor, but pretty light flavor.

I loved the Sockeye and the Panty Peeler, but Midnight sun didn’t get this one right. Way too light, the flavor dies. They need to rethink this beer. Even the stale coffee flavor isn’t that appealing. 79 points.
