Sierra Nevada Tumbler
Hey everyone, sorry about the massive lack of updates. I would be lying if I said I’ve been busy. Truthfully, this is a rare time when I’m not busy, and I’ve been relaxing and filling my time with video games, movies, and friends. But I’ll be updating daily again starting today. As always, feel free to drop me a line if you would like to see any particular beer. You can also listen to me on the podcast Getting Tanked with Frank.
This new seasonal offering from Sierra Nevada is a brown ale. It’s already starting to look like Fall in the Seattle area, so I thought I’d grab a sixer of this to see how it is. This beer features 2-row Pale, Crystal, Chocolate, and smoked malts with Challenger and Yakima Goldings hops.
Stats:
Brown Ale. 5.5% ABV. 37 IBUs. California. Fall Seasonal.
Brown caramel color with a small head.
The nose is caramel with a nutty aroma. Some earth, orange peel, and bacon.
Actually pretty light mouthfeel, would like to see it a tad thicker.
Caramel and chocolate to begin, gets a little earthy, slightly watered-down back end. Some nice bacon and spice, but flavor seems pretty flat.
Probably the most unspectacular beer I’ve had from Sierra Nevada. This one just falls short being too watered-down and light in the mouth. I would look else where for your Fall beer. 83 points.
