Leavenworth Boulder Bend Dunkelweizen

The Leavenworth beers are actually brewed by Fish Brewing company in Olympia, WA. I hear Fish puts out some decent stuff, and have yet to try any. Let’s see how these Leavenworth beers hold up. This one is an unfiltered, dark wheat beer.

Dunkelweizen. 4.7% ABV. 25 IBUs. Washington.

Very dark, the darkest dunkel I’ve ever seen.

The nose is sweet with chocolate coming through, slight wheat, and some plum and brown sugar notes.

A pretty thick mouthfeel, surprising, but I kinda like it.

The palate is wheat and chocolate with caramel, brown sugar, plums, raisins and some apples and pears.

Interesting beer, but I kinda like it. 85 points.
