Full Sail Hop Pursuit 2010

This is another Full Sail Brewer’s Reserve beer. This pale ale was dry hopped for 2 weeks with Cascade, Willamette, and Mt. Hood hops. I was pretty excited about this one. You don’t see too many pale ales in the reserve line-ups of breweries.

American Pale Ale. 6.0% ABV. 55 IBUs. Oregon. Available March to June.

Really clear amber color. You can see a bunch of bubbles on the bottom of the glass. Head fades pretty quickly.

Very malty. Smells like that bready-maltyness that you get with adjunct lagers. A little bit of citrus, but not much of a hop component on this nose. Not a good start.

Medium bodied, not very heavy on the palate, but more than water here.

Bready maltyness up front. Strange mid-palate that is part hop bitterness with an astringent malt taste. The back end is this sort of drying, acidic flavor with a very crackery component. I taste saltines after the finish.

Not super impressed with this effort at all. Very little hop presence. It reminds me more of a lager, actually. But I would not mind this on a hot day. 83 points.
