Pike XXXXX Stout

Another stout, this one brewed with Pale, Crystal, and roasted malts, with Chinook, Willamette, and Goldings hops. This one got pretty good reviews, from a generally lack-luster brewery in Seattle. Let’s see if it stands up.

Extra Stout. 6.6% ABV. 65 IBUs. Seattle, Washington.

Pretty much just black. Decent head and some nice lacing in here as well.

Great amount of roasted malt aroma coming through. Very coffee-ish and some chocolate. And I mean the dark, high cacao count stuff. I also get olives, kinda weird. And there are some hops in here that you can get.

Fairly full bodied, but there is quite a bit of carbonation, making it a fairly easy drinking stout.

Chocolate comes through first, and then you get a lot of that roasted coffee flavors rolling in after. Kiss of sweetness, and also a hair of a metallic flavor. The roasted malts last forever on my palate, not too bitter.

This is a pretty darn good stout. 90 points.
