Hair of the Dog Blue Dot Fall ’09

CIMG1160

Hair of the Dog is a pretty hard producer to find, in my experience, but also a fairly culty and respected brewer. I found their Fall ’09 double IPA, a beer that is brewed with organic Pilsner and Rye malts, and northwest hops (though, I couldn’t find what hops those were).

Stats:
Double India Pale Ale. 7.0% ABV. 80 IBUs. Oregon.

Orangey, coppery tinted beer, with not much head, but does leave a nice lacing.

Very hoppy on the nose, of course. Some nice citrus notes here, especially orange. But it’s mainly citrusy with just a little bit of pine.

Good medium mouthfeel, not too heavy, not too light, and just a little bit of carbonation.

Very hoppy, with lots of citrus, again. There is some pine, especially on the back end. Very balanced, and full flavored.

Not that much to say about this beer. It’s quite full flavored, and it’s good, but it isn’t anything revolutionary. In fact, it’s on par with the other imperial IPAs I’ve had. Good beer, but just a tad boring. 90 points.
