Deschutes Hop Trip

Here is another Bond Street beer from Deschutes. These beers are all about the hops. This one is a pale ale with fresh Crystal hops from a farm outside of Salem, OR. In addition, they add some kiln-dried whole flower hops. They claim that is about 5.7 pounds of hops per barrel brewed.

American Pale Ale. 5.5% ABV. 30 IBUs. Oregon. Available from October-December.

Very coppery colored. Head is pretty much gone now, though.

The nose is actually pretty malty. Nice dose of hops with a bit of pine and citrus. A bit of malty sweetness is coming through here.

Good mouthfeel, decent carbonation, but not too light.

Actually pretty sweet, but not over the top. A lot of malt on this one, but some nice hop notes, with quite a bit of citrus and pine coming through. Great length, with some more fruits and a hint of vanilla coming through, and just a little bit of caramel.

Quite a good beer. Not over the top hops, and actually pretty sweet. A good beer for people not really into hop bitterness. 92 points.
