Sierra Nevada Summerfest ’09

CIMG0725

This is a Sierra Nevada seasonal lager, which I believe is the only lager they produce. They produce this one with Two-row and Munich malts and with Perle and Saaz hops. So it’s a fairly German style with the ingredients. Shout out to @kenneth_l. He’d been recommending this one for awhile.

Stats:
Pilsner. 5.0% ABV. 32 IBUs. California.

Very light, golden, yellow color with cascading carbonation, and no head.

Very hoppy nose with a little citrus coming through. Reminds me a lot of Full Sail LTD 02.

Highly carbonated and fairly light mouthfeel, like you would expect from a lager. Good drinkability for the summer months.

Definitely some hops coming through on the palate. A twinge of bitterness on the back. And a ton of citrus on this. The apricots are just bouncing around my mouth, with citrus fruits coming through big as well.

A very good lager. I’d put this up there with the Full Sail LTDs, and this might be easier to find. Very refreshing, sessionable, summer beer. Had one last night with some smoked pheasant, simply fantastic. 89 points.

I have yet to have a beer from Sierra Nevada that I didn’t like. Do you have a favorite of theirs?

Had one of these last night at the local pub and it is an excellent brew for a warm summer night.

You made some good points there. I did a search on the topic and found most people will agree with your blog.
