Delirium Tremens

CIMG0466

Pink elephants! If you are beer geeky at all, then you’ve heard of, if not tried, Delirium Tremens. The ceramic colored bottled, with the pink elephants on it. Brewed in Belgium from Brouweirj Huyghe, it is their trademark beer, but also produce Nocternum and Noel. If you want to get into Belgium beers, you need to get your hands on this.  Luckily, it is usually pretty easy to find.

Stats:
Strong Pale Ale. 8.5% ABV. Belgium.

Pale golden yellow color with lots of sediment.

The nose is very citrusy, with some smoky, wheaty characteristics. Also getting some pears, and a little hoppiness.

Lightly carbonated, full, rich mouthfeel.

The taste is a little hoppy, but really bready to me, especially on the back end. There is a bit of alcohol on the back, but not bothersome. Definitely some citrus fruits coming through as well.

This is an excellent Belgium. It’s a classic beer, and you need to try it. I’m hoping to find some more of their beers soon, so I can review those for you as well. 91 points.

I am glad you liked this one. It was one of the first beers that I actively sought out and really enjoyed. I know the Tukwilla Cost Plus world market usually has Nocternum and I’ve seen the Noel there a few times too. Maybe I should bring them up when I come visit you guys…
