Millstream Weizenbock
It’s not too often I get to try a beer from Iowa. I’ve had a couple from this brewery, thanks to my buddy over there. This is a weizenbock weighing in at 8.5%. Let’s give it a taste.
Stats:
Weizenbock. 8.5% ABV. Iowa. Limited Release.
Murky brown color, no head on this one.
Lots of esters and sweetness on this nose. Brown sugar, apples, bananas, and cloves. And it smells really strong.
Mouthfeel is medium-light in body with high carbonation.
Very sweet, lots of apples and bananas, little bit of wheat. There’s a hint of grainy roast on the finish, which is really nice. It isn’t shy with the alcohol.
This is quite “in your face.” It feels like the biggest wheat beer that I’ve ever had. It also feels a little over-extracted with the ton of yeast byproducts and the ABV. 83 points.
